The streaming is spending $6 Billion Dollars on original content this year. They are expanding their animated and anime releases. And that is where Cannon Busters comes in. What up CHU? Mel V. here with another edition of variants of the week. A lot of big news coming from the world of media and Netflix. Netflix picked up Millarworld and its properties. I’m hoping they do some great things. Also, another pick up that has seem to gone under the radar is Cannon Busters from Lesean Thomas (known for his work on BOONDOCKS, BLACK DYNIMITE, LEGEND OF KORA). It started as a Kickstarter that met its goal, quickly, and ended up with 2,429 backers pledging $156,535. Tony will speak about it more. I have a feeling this is going to be HUGE. Another project I followed from its Kickstarter birth was BLACK from Kwanza Osajyefo, Tim Smith III, Jamal Igle. Black was picked up by Hollywood up and comer Studio8. These projects being picked up could open doors for other Kickstarter projects that are looking to take them to the next level to either the big screen of small screen. Hey Hey.. (I wrote that with the sound of Krusty the Clown in my head).. It’s that time again. I’m about to head off to the beach for another vacation but lucky for me, I don’t leave until lunchtime Wednesday, which gives me time to go drop by the old local comic book store before enjoying and relaxing at the beach where there’s a slight chance Tropical Storm Franklin could change path’s and plummet me and my family. So if you don’t hear from me by next week, it’s either a hurricane took me out or I got eaten by a shark.
