Back Issue Talk Scam #1 from Comixtribe

There has been quite a bit of talk about Comixtribe’s Scam #1 by Joe Mulvey in the comment section, so I wanted to Spotlight the book a bit and set people on the hunt. There are two versions of #1, a self published version with a print run of 777 copies and a Diamond Released version with a higher print run. To complicate the matter more, the original print run of 777 is divided among variants. Two things cause books to shoot up in value, rarity and demand. This book has rarity as most of the variants are limited to 100 copies and the total print run is 777.

Thanks to guinsfan68 for the link to Scam #1 1st edition (not Diamond edition) Collector’s Paradise edition for $9.99 limited to 50 copies.

Thanks to UKpondside for the pics. Final pic is mine with a picture of the notice inside front cover.

Spread by Justin Jordan and Kyle Strahm

Spread by Justin Jordan and Kyle Strahm

Wow, imagine Lone Wolf and Cub meets John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing.’ I just read the teaser, which will be only up for one week and it looks fantastic. I love Justin Jordan’s ‘Luther Strode’ and have read his other books, but this new horror series looks fantastic. The promo was available at NYCC and only 250 copies were available. No copies appeared on eBay and a search on Google turned up nothing. This could be one of those books that heats up and everyone is looking for.

My Little Pony #12 Variant limited to 12 copies

Thanks to Terry Hoknes at www.hoknescomics.com for this little tidbit. I know people laugh at kids comics being valuable or collectible, but I can say that I sold a ton of My Little Pony #1 Phantom Variants when they came out. Almost 99% went to adult males, as the Bronie culture (which I am NOT a part of) is so big. I caught a lot of flack from people in stores when I was picking the books up, but when they found out how much money I had been making off them, they picked up a couple too.  Continue reading “My Little Pony #12 Variant limited to 12 copies”

Top 150 Hottest Comic Titles and recent Back Issues during Late Spetember 2013

Bi-weekly column and list compiled by comics historian Terry Hoknes ofwww.HoknesComics.com – hoknes@hotmail.com

This list is updated every 2 weeks.  This list is compiled from my non-stop research of the current market.   I believe these were the most demand and growing in value books this month.     This list focuses on all regular edition covers.  (Variants are not listed otherwise they would likely dominate the entire list due to instant high prices and calculated small print runs).   If you think I have missed any hot titles/issues of the last 5 years please let me know.  Here are my picks of what I believe are the hottest comics at this very moment from all sold releases of the last few years online based on back issue sales ABOVE cover price.
