So I’m going to stick to the plans and challenge myself to read at least one comic and or trade every day during this lock down.
Another FOC Monday is upon us comic book collectors and speculators. FOC is the last chance to put in your orders with your comic shops and likely get at a discount for pre-ordering.
The last few weeks have been exciting with some winners plus some surprise winner books.
If you had a chance to watch the New Comic Spec Review video I put up last night, I mentioned the upcoming Image release, Unearth #1. The book is written by Cullen Bunn and Kyle Strahm with art by Baldemar Rivas. Each of the creators is releasing a limited edition cover for the book. Check out the details below. Every month, we get small glimpses of what books are on their way to store shelves.
It’s that time again, where I tell you what’s really grinding my gears for the week of May 15th, 2019.
Some weeks it’s mostly likes, other weeks it’s dislikes.
So what’s grinding my gears this week?
Here’s the full Image Press release for this new chilling horror series:
The X-Files meets Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation with the mounting terror of a classic Stephen King novel in the forthcoming series Unearth—an all-new horror series from Cullen Bunn, Kyle Strahm, and Baldemar Rivas launching this July from Image Comics.
Every week, hundreds of new comic books hit the local shelves. Many of these are long ongoing titles while others come and go quickly, being mini-series or one shots.
Last fall we visited a bunch of the books and titles that had options or media deals that have not gone beyond the option or if they did, they’re still in the wee early stages of ever getting turned into a show.
This is where we dive into the books that either haven’t been optioned or if they did, it’s long expired that we would all love to see and welcome being adapted into a television show or movie. Welcome to Part II of Books We’d Love to see Adapted.
I showed off some of the rare Spread variants in the Spread Cover Gallery for no other reason than I love this book. Kyle Strahm has made available several of the exclusives, invluding the convention only “Fat Jack” action figure variant. Check them out. Kyle Strahm and Justin Jordan have been very good to me. They let me have first crack at showcasing the NYCC Spread #1 variant from last year. Well, they are doing it again. So they are giving the sneak peek to us first. Here is the NYCC Spread Variant preview for this year:

Here is another chance to read on of the favorite series on comicsheatingup.net, Spread. Spread is the story of No and Hope in a post apocalyptic waste land where a “The Thing” like creature inhabits people, animals, the land, and what ever, and they are not even the most dangerous things out there. Continue reading “Trade Waiting: Spread”
Kyle Strahm has been a good friend to the site. He has let us have the exclusive first look of the Spread #1 NYCC cover and he is back again with a preview of Spread #7’s covers. Continue reading “Spread #7 cover preview”
Glad to have friends like Kyle Strahm. Kyle just dropped the exclusive art for the NYCC Spread #1 Variant. See after the bump. Continue reading “Spread #1 NYCC Variant”
Man I need money. I need money to buy this book. The Spread combines a couple of things I loved growing up, The Baby Cart Assassin movies, also known as Lone Wolf and Cub, the looks of the Lone Wolf and Cub manga, and John Carpenter’s The Thing (by the way, if you know Swedish, they tell you in the beginning of the movie what is going on, a spoiler without ever knowing it.)
