Alana's Weekend Specs: Bronze Beauties

Hey fellow CHU’ers, Welcome back to Weekend Specs!! This week I want to go over a couple of Big Bang for your Buck Bronze Beauties that are nothing new to the spec world but may be your last chance to get in on a good deal. Through my time collecting comics, and  I fondly remember when I first started going to the comic store in the 80’s, and collecting Golden age was all the rage for comic book spec’s, only to see the Silver age emerge and take over in the 90’s. Now in 2017, and  I know you have all heard it before, Bronze is the new Silver age. Some Bronze keys have already started hitting their stride in the last 7 years Hulk #181, Werewolf by Night #32, Amazing Spider-Man #129, House of Secrets #92, Batman #232, Iron Man #55, etc. I could go on and on. But surprisingly a couple uber important Bronze Age keys are still cheap and affordable but this window is about to close. Your time to target them is now if you don’t already own them. Also a couple of other tv news and dollar bin specs to go with the already heard of Bronze Age books I’m going to gush about below. Let’s jump in!!!! Continue reading “Alana's Weekend Specs: Bronze Beauties”

What up CHU Live Crew!?! Shawn B. back again with another “One Year Ago Today round up.
Hope everyone’s doing well! Warm weather is starting here in New England…sort of. Not sure about everyone else but that Vitamin D really gives me a jolt of energy after a long winter. Even walking into my comic room feels different and gets me excited for a summer of collecting and comic events. I usually just go to the Boston Con, but this year I’ll also be attending MASSive Comic Con in June. Want to get my first print of The Pro signed by Jimmy and Amanda. That’s right we are on a first name basis. We go way back. We even went to different schools together. Continue reading “Picks of the Week One Year Ago Today! 4/20/17”

It is nice to walk into your local comic shop on Wednesday and get your comics. It is even nicer when by the end of Wednesday, the books are selling for multiple times cover price. But it is a home run when the book sells out at on-line retail shops and is selling for multiple times cover price the night before the comic comes out. Redneck #1 is one of those books. This week looks great though, I smell some potential winners.. not just spec’ing but picking up to read as well. Yes, you can read your comics… you can even look at the artwork in them. I know, big surprise right?

Death in Secret Empire #0: A Quick Spoiler

Secret Empire #0 is out tomorrow.
What is a Marvel event without a death? Secret Empire has at least one death in the midst of all the chaos going on in the issue.  This one seems fitting since it is a character that Nick Spencer created, and since he is writing the event series. (Please not that while images are obscured, the accompanying text isn’t. Only proceed if you don’t mind spoilers.) Continue reading “Death in Secret Empire #0: A Quick Spoiler”
