What Up CHU? Mel V here with your weekly Variant picks for Aug 8^th. An extremely, extremely light week, which is good for the pockets . DC Comics has done some pretty cool things with cover priced variants. They started out with lenticular covers a few years back. The repeated it a little while later. They launched their B cover program with big name artists, which they later made the trade dress smaller to make them more like virgin variants. If you have seen the preview of the cover for Cosmic Ghost Rider #3 (shown to the left), you have seen Cable, a mash-up of Groot and Rocket, a female Captain America, and a very Juggernaut suited duck on the cover. Of course the solicitation gives us a key to what could be up, simply, “COSMIC GHOST RIDER VS. THE FUTURE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY FOR THE FATE OF THE UNIVERSE!”. Saga has long been a favorite book of mine and one that I have been picking up since issue #1. At the end of Saga #54, after the shock ending, there was a bigger shock. Infinity Wars Prime #1 is in stores tomorrow, and is the most insanely cool first issue of an event book I have ever seen. We get the first full appearance of Requiem (who people are speculating is an existing character) we also get a major death and (what looks like) the destruction of something that has been at the core of the Marvel Universe.
