Poyo's Picks for March 8th, 2017

Hello everyone, welcome back to my little world on CHU where I tell you what I’m buying or spec’ing on. Well, sometimes I don’t even buy what I spec or pick, I get kickbacks from the publishers to tell you all what to buy.. I wish!
What am I talking about? I don’t get kickbacks, the only kicks I get are from Tony when I point out his comic addiction denial.
With that said, this week is kind of a dud week. Not a whole lot coming out, so I’ll get on with my picks and dodge Tony trying to kick me. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks for March 8th, 2017”

BREAKING THE WALLS OF REALITY WITH MINDBENDER FROM SCOUT COMICS THIS MAY

Writer James Pruett (X-Men Unlimited, Black Mist, Negative Burn) and Italian artist Federico De Luca (Creepy) join forces to introduce the reality warping psychological thriller MINDBENDER releasing this May from Scout Comics.
“This is a story that has been in the back of my mind percolating for about 25 years,” said Pruett. “I started it numerous times before but have never been able to complete it as another project or editorial demands first at Caliber, then Tusk and now Scout always seemed to take priority.”
MINDBENDER follows Alex Oberman who at the age of seven witnessed the gruesome deaths of his parents in a horrendous explosion caused by his own hands-or to be more precise-his own mind. This tragedy caused him to slip into a catatonic state and withdraw into himself. For over 16 years, Alex doesn’t utter a single word or have a voluntary movement of his own until a young assistant is hired at the Branch Institute and he suddenly awakens and finds himself welding a god-like power and presence that his still young mind seems incapable of understanding. Possessing the physical form of a 23 year old, but the mental capacity of a 7 year old he isn’t sure how to properly harness his new-found abilities; thus he seeks sanctuary and wisdom from a small collected group of misfits and outcasts that seemed to be expecting his ascension. Alex finds many questions swirling through his mind, but none more poignant than whether his diagnosed insanity was, in actuality, his salvation from the madness that seems to run rampant through this new world he has awaken within. In fact, the more he discovers, the more he wonders that perhaps it is not him that suffers from insanity, but that the entire world itself has fallen into the realms of madness.  Continue reading “BREAKING THE WALLS OF REALITY WITH MINDBENDER FROM SCOUT COMICS THIS MAY”

It was also available as a Red Cover 150 copy edition and a Blue Cover 50 copy edition. Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 43

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. Wow, it is almost March. The year goes so fast. Thank you all for reading this each and every week. Thank you for listening to my podcast on youtube and for all the friendship, encouragement, advice and support. I am very, very blessed to have you all in my life. Before we make the money with comics, allow me to point out a few things. First, those General Mills cereal boxes look #awesomesauce. I say lets start flipping cereal as the Ivan Reis art looks killer especially the Sunny the Cocoa Puffs bird and Batman boxes. I can see sets of these going for $20 plus in the future. Second, why can’t we have a peanut butter kit kat bar? Resee’s is great but I want them square But I digress, if anyone has copies of Betty and Me #40 I am buying NM copies. And speaking of Archie, the actress that plays Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale is just the bomb. #awesomesauce red bull is the drink of the Infamous Iron man #5 is my read of the week, it may be one of the top five Marvel books at the present. Now, lets make some money on some comics, cause you can’t teach that. Continue reading “Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 43”

Poyo's Picks of the Week for March 1, 2017

It’s that time again, each week we rush off to our local comic shops (well, most of us as I know a lot don’t have local shops near by so they do their order’in online) to snag our monthly pulls to read, snag the books we think can net us some more money so we can just do it all over again next week. Buy, Read, Read and Comment on CHU, Sell, Repeat.. it’s a rinse, recycle and repeat for most of us I’m sure.
So, let’s do the same thing we did last week.. but with different books. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for March 1, 2017”
