Free Comic Wednesdays have become a hit for the site. Who would have thought that giving away free comic variants would be so popular? Anyway, here is the winner for the Young Terrorists #1 Black Cat Comics Variant. (This is the same shop that got burglarized today….) Continue reading “Winner! Young Terrorists #1 Black Cat Comics Variant”
We have another good one for grabs this week. This one is sponsored by our own Agent Poyo. Another Black Mask Variant cover, this one is Young Terrorists #1 Templesmith Variant Continue reading “Free Comic Wednesday: Young Terrorists #1 Templesmith Variant”
What’s Up Chu? Mel V. again. You get twice the variants this week. Here is one I forgot to add trying to get the article in tonight. Trust me when someone mentions The King (no not Elvis) you want to take a look.

Ok folks here is an odd one. Grindhouse: Drive In and Bleed Out #8. Not a book that I would normally spotlight. I enjoyed the campy (Alex de Campi at that) series. This was the last issue. There are a couple of reasons to look at grabbing a copy.

What’s up CHU? Mel V. here back in the saddle for another week of great comics. Love them or hate them, variant covers are a part of the comic buying process. Some variants go up, some go down, but as long as you are buying art you like you cannot go wrong. Here is what I am feeling this week. Continue reading “Mel’s Variant Picks of the week”
Each week Terry Hoknes of www.hoknescomics.com releases a video spotlighting the hot new releases for the week. Here is this weeks for delivery 9/2/15: Continue reading “Hoknes Comics Hot New Comics For Release 9/2/15”
Wednesday, the best day of the week, new comic book day. It is like your birthday in the middle of each week (well, one where you buy your own presents.)
We open things up to hear from you. A free for all. Continue reading “Wednesday Open Forum”
It’s actually going to be a smaller week for me, guess all these artists and writers were busy sending their kiddos off to school but there are a few issues coming out one must check and spec on…

Love God Hates Astronauts? Hate God Hates Astronauts, either way, this comic is for you, or at least Ryan Browne says so. Blast Furnace is a 280 page graphic novel by GHA artist and writer Ryan Browne, but with rules:
Blast Furnace is an improvisational comic written and drawn an hour per page with zero planning and no idea where the story is going to go. Behold, a full color collection spanning all 280 pages of stream o’ consciousness lunacy!

Being a single mother is hard. Now imagine being a single mother raising a child with God-like super powers. This is what Raising Dion is about.

The Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List is a great speculator tool. It shows what books retailers are going back to get more of, in advance of their release. They are actually putting their money up betting these books get big. These are the books people are talking about in shops, message boards, and websites. Here is the Diamond Comics Advance for 8/31/15: Continue reading “Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List for 8/31/15”
Everything you love eventually comes to an end. Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street creator, Wes Craven, has passed away at age 76. Nightmare on Elm Street was my first foray into horror (of course followed by Friday the 13th) and turned me into a young horror fan.

Thanks to Comicsheatingup.net‘s own Louie M. and Toyboxone.com’s Tyson B. for the Marvel Collector’s Corp unboxing information.
Secret Wars August Box
Despite several past disappointments from Loot Crate and others, I remain a sucker for nerdy mystery boxes. Guess it’s the fun of getting that unknown box in the mail plus it’s fun to divvy up the goods with your kids. Marvel’s marketing focused on being “100% exclusive” and “no fluff”. I went all in with the Founder’s subscription of 6 boxes over 1 year which includes an exclusive bonus anniversary figure that Funko promises to be epic. The cool thing about doing the site and meeting creators is they tell you things in advance of them happening. The down side is sometimes the things they tell you are off the record and you cannot print. This was the case. Matthew Rosenberg mentioned back on the 8/8/14 signing that We Can never Go Home would be back in 2016 and it would be an ongoing.
Now it is official as he changed his Twitter account with the following picture.
