Secret Wars August Box
Despite several past disappointments from Loot Crate and others, I remain a sucker for nerdy mystery boxes. Guess it’s the fun of getting that unknown box in the mail plus it’s fun to divvy up the goods with your kids. Marvel’s marketing focused on being “100% exclusive” and “no fluff”. I went all in with the Founder’s subscription of 6 boxes over 1 year which includes an exclusive bonus anniversary figure that Funko promises to be epic. The cool thing about doing the site and meeting creators is they tell you things in advance of them happening. The down side is sometimes the things they tell you are off the record and you cannot print. This was the case. Matthew Rosenberg mentioned back on the 8/8/14 signing that We Can never Go Home would be back in 2016 and it would be an ongoing.

The Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List is a great speculator tool. It shows what books retailers are going back to get more of, in advance of their release. They are actually putting their money up betting these books get big. These are the books people are talking about in shops, message boards, and websites. Due to a change in policy at Image, they started to over print comics to prevent the books from selling out and going back for reprints. They did this to allow more readers to get copies, and save on having to go back to the printers. Due to this, Image Comics now vastly overprints all new books, especially new #1’s. So now, if a book sells out its really a surprise and might be the only future big money books.
