Agent Poyo's picks of the week for 1/21/15

Love him or hate him (do not think anyone hates him, who can hate a guy who named himself after a cyborg battle rooster) but AgentPoyo has opinions and ideas. We are thankful that he shares them here in the comment section. We are proud to introduce AgentPoyo’s first spec pick article.
Burning Fields #1 Cover C Incentive Riley Rossmo Virgin Variant Cover (Boom!)
Why: It’s a Riley Rossmo cover. It’s a 1:20 variant and some recent
Boom! variants have been hot lately. If this series is popular, this
will be the cover to own or flip. Expect low print runs and possibly
no 2nd prints since last weeks Feathers opted to not go to second
printing despite selling out. Most shops online are already sold out
in advance.
Noteworthy Pick:
Ivar Timewalker #1 (Valiant)
Why: It’s a #1, it’s got time traveling and if done right, could be a
great ongoing series. Perhaps it’s a modern day Quantum Leap.
Honorable Mentions:
Spread (Image) is back after a about a 2 month absence with Spread #5.
A CHU favorite.
Powers #1 Vol. 4 (Marvel/Icon). Yes, it’s on it’s 4th volume and
there’s a Sony Playstation Network coming this Winter. A good jumping
on point for new readers.

Marvel and Ultimate Universe to come crashing together

But, as we have been suggesting for a while now, they are not saying it is a reboot. Marvel released news today in the “announcement to end all announcements.” The Civil War event will bring together the Marvel Universe “616” and the Ultimate Universe, with only one surviving. Brian Michael Bendis on Late Night with Seth Meyers

Marvel is excited to announce that on Tuesday, January 20th, Eisner Award winning comic book writer, Brian Michael Bendis, will make his “Late Night” debut to discuss the upcoming PlayStation original series, “Powers” from Sony Pictures Television. Inspired by Bendis’ graphic novel series of the same name, “Powers” is an edgy dramatic series that follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Continue reading “Brian Michael Bendis on Late Night with Seth Meyers”

Wytches #4 ComicXposure variant

I am loving Wytches. Did the signing with Scott Snyder yesterday and told him all about it. It is not only the horror that is great, it is the realism of characters. Scott Snyder told me that there is going to be some interesting developments between Sailor and her dad. He also mentioned that Severed helped him figure out that he could tell dark stories, and that fans react well to his darkness (read Severed it is good.)
We have been spotlighting variant covers for the series, so here is one that is creepy good. Continue reading “Wytches #4 ComicXposure variant”

More Walking Dead Spec

There is a reason I pick Walking Dead books each week they come out for the picks of the week. One show out, one on the way, plenty of material for harvesting show ideas. As we have previously stated, Alexandria is on its way, or the survivors are on their way to Alexandria. Casting news is leaking out. Continue reading “More Walking Dead Spec”

One to watch: Betty and Veronica #275

Adam Hughes fans are very loyal and pick up his covers. There is good reason to, as no one does female characters like him (Cho and Dodson excluded). Themarysue.com had a cover gallery for Betty and Veronica #275 which includes the Hughes cover. Continue reading “One to watch: Betty and Veronica #275”

Loot Crate exclusive Star Wars Cover for issue #1

This month’s Loot Crate theme is rewind. Looks like they could be sending out items from previous crates. There was an awesome retro video looking like an old video recording that kind of spotlighted this.

It said items may vary and shows the Slimer Ghostbusters door hanger from last month. There is also going to be a Star Wars #1 comic featuring a Gabrielle Dell’Otto cover. Star Wars.com had the official announcement.
