This book is flat out amazing if you’re into horror comics, don’t miss this one by John Lees, and my buddy Alex Cormack (shout out to Adam as well). Let’s get right into it this week’s books Continue reading “Mel V.'s Variant Picks for 9/13/17”

One Year Later: Spec Review for 9/7/16

What up CHUlupa Batmans!?! (5 Cool Points to anyone who gets that reference) Shawn B. back, the One Year Later Investigator, with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo specced on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off the word on the street. Either way, all their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today. Continue reading “One Year Later: Spec Review for 9/7/16”

Mel V.'s Variant Picks for 9/6/17

What Up CHU? Mel V here with your weekly variant picks for the week of Sept 6th. Been a bit under the weather lately. I always hated this transition from Summer to Fall. So depressing. I want to send prayers to all my Texas people that were affected by Harvey and also want to send a “be safe” and prayers to people in the Caribbean and possibly Florida that may be hit by Irma. Mother Nature is wicked. Continue reading “Mel V.'s Variant Picks for 9/6/17”

Poyo's Picks for Sept 6th, 2017

It’s that time again, the Tuesday evening pre-Wednesday new comic book day, the best day of every week (except last week, I didn’t buy a single comic). The day we spend all our hard earned cash on books we either cherish or sell to buy more books. That’s what’s money is for right? Spending.. cause we all know you can’t take it with you when you die, so you might as well spend it.
I’m also counting down the days to NYCC, it’s now just 1 month away. I’ve been trying to scrape together some books for signings in Artist Alley (the best part of the show) so in the process I’ve been gathering up books to list and sell , so I have beer and food money while in NYC. Yes, it’s my shameless plug to sell my books. So  buy my books, you’ll be making this chicken very happy with more beer (it’s really the only way to put up and tolerate Anthony anyway… ).
On with the picks…. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks for Sept 6th, 2017”
