More "Images of Tomorrow" Variant Covers Released

Image’s 25th Anniversary cover months continue with the Images of Tomorrow covers coming up. We showed off some of them the other day, but new cover images have been released, including a funny I Hate Fairyland with some very self deprecating humor by Skottie Young.  Continue reading “More "Images of Tomorrow" Variant Covers Released”

Creature Entertainment's Tommy Kickstarter

Whats Up CHU? Mel V here, when I first started writing articles for CHU, the main thing I wanted to do is use my resources and connections to help people’s dreams of having their comic funded and shown to the world come true. As many of you my know, I’m a huge fan of Creature Entertainment and their works like the Gun, Ravenous, and especially Tommy. The horror story of a boy and his imaginary pet rabbit friend. Issue 1 and 2 have been released to pretty good reviews and with issue 3, the fine people at Creature Entertainment need your help to get it to more of a bigger crowd Continue reading “Creature Entertainment's Tommy Kickstarter”

Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for 6/14/17

What Up CHU? Mel V. here with your weekly variant picks, the heat is finally here in NYC, its baking right now as I write my latest choices from the visually stunning world of variants. So far this summer has been full of variant overload but its only been a few that have been “WOW! I must have that”, however me being a fan of Venom, those covers Mattina have been putting out have been nothing short of great. That man’s hand is going to fall off with all the great works he’s been putting in lately. This week is yet another decent weeks for variants, so, lets get into the getting into Continue reading “Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for 6/14/17”

Poyo's Picks of the Week for June 14th, 2017

It’s that time again, when we think we know what we’re talking about and tell the masses what we think they should be reading, spec’ing and buying. And yes, your conspiracy thoughts are true, I’m actually an agent for the publishers to secretly make you buy more crap so we get richer while you spend all your poor hard earned cash on worthless paper with ink splattered over it to form pictures. So there you have it, the beans have been spilled and yet you will still find yourself buying more and more comics because you are weak.
No worries, I’m not only an agent but a member as I spend all my money on books as well.
In other news, I’m all booked up for NY Comic Con. So be there or don’t be there, won’t matter to me. Actually, don’t go, that just means more Con Exclusive covers for me to sell to those who missed out at a inflated premium price.
Okay, enough of my ramblings.. .. It’s now on with the Poyo Picks, the only picks you shall need! Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for June 14th, 2017”

Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 54

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. Thank you for all friendship, encouragement, advice, support, and love. thank you so much for reading this each and every week. I hope to see you all at a convention sometime in the near future. before we make some money on some comics I would like to share afew thoughts and give a few opinions. First the Wonder Woman movie was #awesomesauce, best DC movie since Dark Knight nuff said. Still need to watch the final two episodes of Gotham and that Flash #23, Pasty Walker Hellcat #14-15, and the Suicide Squad Death of Amanda Waller trade were my reads of the week.
Now lets make some money on some comics because you can’t teach that! Continue reading “Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 54”

Cruzzer's Heads Up: Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers #3

For the last several weeks, I have been pushing several UDon variants. I hold the Street Fighter/Capcom Universe extremely close to my heart. The Artgerm variant for issue #1 sold out quickly and is still going for good money. The #2 issue Warren Louw 1:20 variant continues to sell $35-60, and the prices still seem to be climbing on Fe(ebay) on both issues. Will the trend continue on the 1:20 variant ratio for Udon Street Fighter VS. Darkstalkers Issue #3? Continue reading “Cruzzer's Heads Up: Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers #3”

DrunkWooky's Star Wars Report for 06/09/2017

Hey, CHU, it’s DrunkWooky here with your monthly HoloNet update from around the galaxy!
I figured I would give top billing to an upcoming publication that has flown under the radar so far. Since, the Star Wars publishing rights reverted back to Disney and therefore Marvel back in 2015, everybody who has wanted to know has been well aware of every new title coming from the lumbering juggernaut that is Marvel’s PR machine. One Year Later: 6/8/16 Spec Review

What up CHUnderbolts!?! I know I am really stretching it with CHUnderbolts but it is pretty hard to come up with a new one every week so please bear with my corniness. Any suggestions for future uses of CHU in comic related words please chime in below. I think I only have around 40+ more to think of to have a freshie every week of the year. HAH!
Shawn B. back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo spec-ed on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off the word on the street. Either way, all their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today. Continue reading “One Year Later: 6/8/16 Spec Review”

Louie M.'s Phoenix Comic Con Wrap Up

Sorry about the delay on getting this up. Louie submitted it a while back and things being hectic I haven’t been able to get it on the site. Thanks to Louie M. who covers conventions for comicsheatingup.net for doing it.
Phoenix Comicon took place over the Memorial Day weekend in Downtown Phoenix, AZ, and is one of the largest comic cons in the country.
The event kicked off with great excitement given their incredible guests list including Dick Van Dyke, Karen Gillan, Danny Trejo, and Jon Bernthal. If you haven’t heard already, on day 1, a man was taken down by police who was carrying 3 handguns, a shotgun, ammo, and knives.  Word from people who were there was that security was light for preview night (in years past, there were bag checks at the door and prop checks).  Someone noticed the posts this human turd was making on social media and tipped off police. A man carrying that much firepower has bad intentions and I thank God he was caught before he could carry out his plans.  He was posting pics of police he wanted to murder and his plans to assassinate Jason David Frank (Green Ranger). Special thanks to the person who reported him, she could have ignored his posts but chose not to. Continue reading “Louie M.'s Phoenix Comic Con Wrap Up”
