Future Hits from the Kick: Niobe She is Death

What Up CHU? Mel V here with a special and quick Promotion for ‘Niobe She is Death’ Kickstarter.
First, I would like to give a huge shout out the creators of Niobe, Stranger Comics’ Sebastian A. Jones, Darrell May, and Joshua Cozine. If you ever see them at a convention, stop by and talk to them, these are some of the best people in the comic industry I’ve had the honor of meeting. Niobe She Is Life will always mean something to me, as It was one of the first books that I wrote about when I first started with CHU. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard about it and when I got to see it back in Baltimore a couple of years back. Continue reading “Future Hits from the Kick: Niobe She is Death”

Aloha and welcome back CHUniverse to another edition of Weekend Specs. A slow couple of weeks for comic specs but I have a few back issues worth a look. The release of Injustice 2 this week gives us a new hot spec! Looks like X-23 could be getting a solo movie as well. Also a few specs from the latest episodes of the Flash and Agents of Shield, and I’ll finish up with a couple dollar binner Spider-Man keys. Get ready for the summer and let’s jump in!!! Continue reading “Alana's Weekend Specs: Slow start to Summer”

One Year Later: 5/18/16 Spec Review

By Shawn B. The One Year Later Investigator
What up CHUicide Squad!?! Shawn B. back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at all of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo spec-ed on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off of the word on the street. Either way all of their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to take a look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today.
A very light week from a year ago! Continue reading “One Year Later: 5/18/16 Spec Review”

Mel V's Variant Picks for 5/17/17

What Up CHU? Mel V. here with your weekly variant picks. Well my extensive comic buying vacation is coming to a close (I did buy comics but in a small margin, not nearly as much as I usually do). Want to give a big shout out to ebayer thedigitallongbox for giving me a sweet deal on that Secret Warriors 1 1:50 variant. As I stated last week, I’m going to buy and hold this one. Also last week, I was hunting for that Z-Nation #2 virgin variant. NO LUCK! but my boy AK Trey K. had my back and was able to get me one. This buds for you my friend. I also missed The Superwoman and All-Star Batman 1:1 variants from my list (but Tony had the Batman one covered). Shame on me. These have been doing extremely well in the aftermarket selling for upwards $15 nice score if you were able to get one.
Let’s get into this week’s offerings to the Variant Gods Continue reading “Mel V's Variant Picks for 5/17/17”

Secret Empire #2 Review and Spoilers

Secret Empire has caused a lot of anger, going back to Steve Rogers Captain America #1, due in large part to Steve Rogers being a secret member of Hydra. People got upset with Cap being a facist, to the point they were burning copies of the Free Comic Book Day Secret Empire (that will show Marvel, burning a book (like a facist) that they got for free). Needless to say, Secret Empire #2 will turn this all on it’s ear. There are spoilers ahead. The images have been covered and you must click on them, but the accompanying text is not covered. So proceed with caution. Secret Empire #2 is in stores tomorrow.
