New Sold Out Comics: Redneck, Plastic, Solar Flare

Here are this weeks recent sell outs at the distributor level. Remember, just because they are not available at the distributor level doesn’t mean you will not be able to find them on you local comic shop’s shelves, it means that once they are gone, the shops will not be able to order additional first print copies.  Continue reading “New Sold Out Comics: Redneck, Plastic, Solar Flare”

One Year Later: 5/25/16 Spec Review

One Year Later Investigator
What up CHU Believers!?! Shawn B. back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo specced on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off of the word on the street. Either way all of their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to take a look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today.
With that said…..let’s do this! Continue reading “One Year Later: 5/25/16 Spec Review”

Matt Wagner's Epic 'Mage' Returns to Image

Two comics stand out in my head as all time favorites, and they are both by Matt Wagner, Grendel and Mage. Mage returns this summer with the final chapter of the Kevin Matchstick saga.
Legendary creator and indy-comics pioneer Matt Wagner returns to bring fans the highly anticipated third and final story arc to MAGE from Image Comics this summer. MAGE: THE HERO DENIED will kickoff with the intro-sized issue #0 in July and carry on as a regular, 15-issue series beginning with THE HERO DENIED #1 this August. Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for 5/24/17

What Up CHU? Mel V here with Variants of the week. Last Saturday was the inaugural Five Points Festival here a Pier 36 here in NYC. I gotta tell ya, I was very impressed by the set up and how spacious the convention floor was despite the large amount of people that attended. Shout out to Larry from Larry’s Comics, as always, for giving out fantastic deals on books as well as sharing his vast knowledge of comics and speculation. Last week was a quiet one, Street Fighter vs DarkStalkers was a good aftermarket winner, with copies still doing well. Also I have to say, while I love giving everyone insight and a heads up on what’s coming each week, you can never go wrong if you buy the books YOU like! Let’s get into this week’s offerings to the Variant gods. Continue reading “Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for 5/24/17”

Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 51

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. Thank you all for reading this each and every week. Thank you all for the friendship, encouragement, advice and support. Hopefully you all made out better then I did for your NYCC tickets this year. Week two at the blind training center went well. I am now in a waiting period to start
the full twenty week program . Let’s all hope it isn’t a long wait.
Titans #11 was my read of the week. My only complaint is the major change they made with Deathstroke. All-Star Batman #10 was fun and this weeks Riverdale and Flash episodes kicked major a$$. Still need to see Guardians. Now lets make some money with some comics because you can’t teach that

Future Hits from the Kick: Niobe She is Death

What Up CHU? Mel V here with a special and quick Promotion for ‘Niobe She is Death’ Kickstarter.
First, I would like to give a huge shout out the creators of Niobe, Stranger Comics’ Sebastian A. Jones, Darrell May, and Joshua Cozine. If you ever see them at a convention, stop by and talk to them, these are some of the best people in the comic industry I’ve had the honor of meeting. Niobe She Is Life will always mean something to me, as It was one of the first books that I wrote about when I first started with CHU. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard about it and when I got to see it back in Baltimore a couple of years back. Continue reading “Future Hits from the Kick: Niobe She is Death”

Get ready for the summer and let’s jump in!!! Continue reading “Alana's Weekend Specs: Slow start to Summer”
