Sorry about the delay on getting this up. Louie submitted it a while back and things being hectic I haven’t been able to get it on the site. Thanks to Louie M. who covers conventions for comicsheatingup.net for doing it.
Phoenix Comicon took place over the Memorial Day weekend in Downtown Phoenix, AZ, and is one of the largest comic cons in the country.
The event kicked off with great excitement given their incredible guests list including Dick Van Dyke, Karen Gillan, Danny Trejo, and Jon Bernthal. If you haven’t heard already, on day 1, a man was taken down by police who was carrying 3 handguns, a shotgun, ammo, and knives. Word from people who were there was that security was light for preview night (in years past, there were bag checks at the door and prop checks). Someone noticed the posts this human turd was making on social media and tipped off police. A man carrying that much firepower has bad intentions and I thank God he was caught before he could carry out his plans. He was posting pics of police he wanted to murder and his plans to assassinate Jason David Frank (Green Ranger). Special thanks to the person who reported him, she could have ignored his posts but chose not to. Continue reading “Louie M.'s Phoenix Comic Con Wrap Up”

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. As always, I want to say thank you for reading this each and every week. Thank you for for all the friendship, encouragement, advice, love & support. Still waiting on a start date for the school. The state of New Jersey services is hella slow but I will be starting soon.
I want to say Arrow was amazing last week, so was Gotham, and Lucifer is just fun. Still have a crush on the actress that plays Dr. Linda, however the actress that plays Maze is sexy too. Action Comics #980 was great, as was Wonder Woman #23.
Now lets make some money on some comics because you can’t teach that. Continue reading “Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 53”
Walking Dead #168 is in stores tomorrow. It is a more relaxed issue, compared to the hecticness of the zombie attack, however, there is some craziness that goes on. We see Negan in fine form too.
Spoiler Alert: Images are obscured, click on the spoiler warning to see each picture. The accompanying text is not secured. So read on only if you do not mind spoilers. Also, it is The Walking Dead, so language warning. Continue reading “Walking Dead #168 Spoilers”

Another glorious week for comics, wait.. that’s every week, even the slow weeks. Nothing stops us from heading to the comic book store to spend our hard earned cash on books we intend to sell but end up loving. They become our precious and we turn into grumps and creatures of the caves when our significant others tell us we need to get rid of them.
Let’s get on with the precious picks for the week.. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for June 7th, 2017”

Wal-Mart has been trying to get into the comic sales for a while. They started with $5 comic packs, I did a Unbagging Video here. From there, they got into the DC reprint packs, that featured a special printing of recent #1 comics, plus a few other comics in the packs as well. It seems that DC has continued the relationship with War-Mart by releasing a special DC Showcase Magazine in Walmart stores. Comicbook.com had news that Odette Annable has joined the third-season cast of The CW’s Supergirl in the role of Reign. Reign is a relatively new character that has only appeared in several comics, which make her interesting to the series producers. Continue reading “Odette Annable Cast As Reign for Supergirl TV show”
What up Uncanny InCHUmans!?! Shawn B., the One Year Later Investigator, back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo spec-ed on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off of the word on the street. Either way all of their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to take a look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today. Continue reading “One Year Later: 6/1/16 Spec Review”
Mattina has become the master of the Venom variant. His style lends itself to doing the sinues and tendrils of Venom.
