What if Guardians of Nowhere #1 Wasn't the First Gwenom?

So this is a “What If?” story about a what if comic. For the longest time Guardians of Knowhere has been considered the first appearance of Gwen Stacy Venom, AKA Gwenom. She appears on the variant cover to the book as part of Gwen-month. But there is an earlier appearance of Gwen Stacy with a symbiote. New 'DC Showcase' Collected Magazine Appearing at War-Mart

Wal-Mart has been trying to get into the comic sales for a while. They started with $5 comic packs, I did a Unbagging Video here. From there, they got into the DC reprint packs, that featured a special printing of recent #1 comics, plus a few other comics in the packs as well. It seems that DC has continued the relationship with War-Mart by releasing a special DC Showcase Magazine in Walmart stores. Odette Annable Cast As Reign for Supergirl TV show

Comicbook.com had news that Odette Annable has joined the third-season cast of The CW’s Supergirl in the role of Reign. Reign is a relatively new character that has only appeared in several comics, which make her interesting to the series producers.  Continue reading “Odette Annable Cast As Reign for Supergirl TV show”

One Year Later: 6/1/16 Spec Review

What up Uncanny InCHUmans!?! Shawn B., the One Year Later Investigator,  back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo spec-ed on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off of the word on the street. Either way all of their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to take a look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today. Continue reading “One Year Later: 6/1/16 Spec Review”

Variant Envy: Edge of Venomverse #1 Natali Sanders Variant

My friends over at Comic Market Street have a hot cover coming up for Edge of Venomverse #1. Venomized characters are all the rage due to the upcoming series. If you haven’t heard, the series will focus on Venom and other characters who are Venomized battling it out with “Posion”, a new “Earth based” (organic if you will) Sybiote that takes over other characters to eradicate Venom. Poyo's Picks of the Week for May 31, 2017

I hope everyone’s Memorial Day was a blast, I know mine was as I once again survived another tandem skydive. I really am thinking about changing careers (or hobby perhaps) since one of the skydivers put it this way, you’ll love your job but be poor as hell. It was a blast though. Total stress reliever, I recommend jumping out of planes to any and everyone.
Back to comics and enough about what I do in my spare time.. So, last week wasn’t too exciting, at least on the spec side of things. Lots of reader books, ongoing title reads that is. The only winner I think was the Seven to Eternity Spawn covers which were kind of scarce in my neck of the woods, one shop didn’t even order any. But this was one that was already selling way above cover in pre-sales on the secondary market. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for May 31, 2017”

Cruzzer's Variant Heads-up: Street Fighter Vs. Darkstalkers #2 1:20 Variant

While I have all Street Fighter variants on my pull list at my local comic shop, I know a lot of people out there will have trouble finding the ratio variants offered, most in particular the “Street Fighters vs. Darkstalkers #2 Warren Louw Variant.”  Continue reading “Cruzzer's Variant Heads-up: Street Fighter Vs. Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 52

Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. Thank you all for reading this each and every week. Thank you all for the friendship, encouragement, advice, love, and surport.
Just some random thoughts. Remember, Red Bull is the best drink ever made, and I am drinking it while writing this. That Gotham is an awesome show, loosely based on Batman. That Secret Empire makes no sense McDonalds needs to stop being so damn stingy with its nugget dipping sauces, come on, it is fifty nuggets and you expect one to two sauces to do the job, stop that already. Now, let’s make some with some comics because you can’t teach that. Continue reading “Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 52”

Recent Hot Books

Hey CHU! Shawn B. here again. Just did some value adjustments for ComicBookRealm.com and came across a few popular books right now that I wanted to share with everyone. This won’t be a weekly post like the One Year Later one but if people like it, I will try and get one of these out every so often as I am doing value adjustments. I didn’t take the time to see which of these were specced here on CHU. Off the top of my head I think that most were. Besides Heathen #3, most of these have been out for a little while now and are still holding value and being sought after. Continue reading “Recent Hot Books”
