My Little Pony #12 Variant limited to 12 copies

Thanks to Terry Hoknes at www.hoknescomics.com for this little tidbit. I know people laugh at kids comics being valuable or collectible, but I can say that I sold a ton of My Little Pony #1 Phantom Variants when they came out. Almost 99% went to adult males, as the Bronie culture (which I am NOT a part of) is so big. I caught a lot of flack from people in stores when I was picking the books up, but when they found out how much money I had been making off them, they picked up a couple too.  Continue reading “My Little Pony #12 Variant limited to 12 copies”

Top 150 Hottest Comic Titles and recent Back Issues during Late Spetember 2013

Bi-weekly column and list compiled by comics historian Terry Hoknes ofwww.HoknesComics.com – hoknes@hotmail.com

This list is updated every 2 weeks.  This list is compiled from my non-stop research of the current market.   I believe these were the most demand and growing in value books this month.     This list focuses on all regular edition covers.  (Variants are not listed otherwise they would likely dominate the entire list due to instant high prices and calculated small print runs).   If you think I have missed any hot titles/issues of the last 5 years please let me know.  Here are my picks of what I believe are the hottest comics at this very moment from all sold releases of the last few years online based on back issue sales ABOVE cover price.

Wolverine’s son? Back issue speculation

Got a good tip from Larry from Larry’s Comics about a book I have mentioned a couple of times, Uncanny X-Men #13 which features a blue skinned, red haired, clawed Wolverine looking guy. Larry has long been the king of speculation, he used to write the speculation bible, ‘Larry’s Comics Market Report’ every week for quite a while. Speculation suggests this is Wolverine and Mystique’s son. Continue reading “Wolverine’s son? Back issue speculation”

Recent Image returnable books

Someone asked me in the comment section about the return-ability of recent Image books. I started writing everything down when I found this blurb from bleeding cool. Since I am still sick, and feeling a little lazy as a result, I copied this over. Looks like Three, which launches this week, may or may not be returnable, depending on how many copies are ordered. Continue reading “Recent Image returnable books”

The Other Dead #1 Sells out, plus print run

As of yesterday, The Other Dead #1 has officially sold out. This is IDW’s zombie animal book, that was a really good read. We had spotlighted this book previously as there were a couple of things of interest with it. First, there was the Obama Variant cover, holding guns (one of which I am sure would be considered an assault weapon.) Two, it was supposed to come out on September 11th, but customs held it to “spray for moths.” Three, Kevin Eastman of ‘Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles’ fame did a subscription variant cover featuring, of all things, turtles.
