Variant Envy: Enormous #7 Hoknes Comics Variants
My friend and long time www.Comicsheatingup.net contributor, Terry Hoknes of www.hoknescomics.com, is releasing two variant covers for Enormous #7 (aka Enormous Season 2 #1). He is making them available to CHU readers first. I can tell you this, the two variants I released for #6 rarely come up for sale as they were limited and are being held by collectors, I have a feeling the same thing will happen with these.

One to watch: Spread Cover Album
I think i have made it well known that I am a big fan of The Spread by Justin Jordan and Kyle Strahm. The story and art have hooked me from the beginning and I have talked about the “Lone Wolf and Cub meets The Thing” (sorry, elevator pitch) book since before it began. They also have been pretty innovative with the book. They released the Spread Convention Teaser, both Blue and Yellow versions at NYCC a few years back to drum up interest, they are rare and valuable (glad I have both of them), as well as the black and white art book (these almost never come up for sale). They even started the whole Action Figure Variant craze (I know the SCUD issue was the first but the Spread ones made it popular) with their Spread Action Figure Variants. Anyway, and I digress, they releases a rare book this year which is bringing in good money. One is up for sale at a very reasonable price. Continue reading “One to watch: Spread Cover Album”

Comic Variants and the South Carolina situation
DrunkWooky writes for www.comicsheatingup.net
Sometimes people react to horrifying circumstances with truly admirable compassion. The comic book industry has displayed these attributes in light of the recent Charleston church shootings. First, Jason Latour minced no words while conveying his opinion of the confederate flag on a special Southern Bastards variant cover. This decision was further backed by Jetpack Comics. Second, Four Color Grails chose to weigh the sensitive nature of current events more heavily than the economic benefits of social media advertising. First 8 Minutes of MTV’s Scream TV remake
(Ok not comic related.)
You guys know I love horror, when Scream came out I was all over it. When I heard that the Scream Series was being re-imagined for TV by MTV, I had my doubts. Then I saw the first 8 minute preview that was released. Now I think I am in. I am totally looking for new shows, and horror shows that my wife can watch too appeals to me (she hates horror but digs The Walking Dead, Strain, and American Horror Stories.) The show premiered at 8 PM East Coast and will reair at 10 PM and then again at 11:07 PM eastern time. Check out the first 8 minutes after the jump:
