SDCC is now behind us. We have two months until NYCC which gives us around 8 more Wednesdays. This is usually the busiest time of the year for comics, new and ongoing. So let’s see what’s in store for us to kick off August.

We all can love and hate the big two publishers at the same time but with independent books, creators can express their creative works as they see fit. This makes for great reads and great art without the direction of the corporate overlords.

We shouldn’t just collect or flip books, we should also read them. A good story can make your purchase well worth the money spent if you ask me. After all, we buy books to read for entertainment right? Even if you can’t flip them, reading is just as rewarding.
With the recent news that Marvel has big plans for Galactus and Tyrant hitting the webs, a book some would overlook is Silver Surfer #81 which is Tyrant’s first appearance.
Marvel is changing it up a bit for their Immortal Hulk additional printings and issue #20 is really an awesome looking cover that should not be overlooked.

It’s the 5th Wednesday of the month. These are usually the lame duck of the new comic book days but this one doesn’t look half bad. There’s a lot of small publisher and indie books hitting shelves this week that are worth checking out.
