Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 58
Greetings to my Comics Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. thank you for reading this each and every week. I love you guys and being able to playin this sandbox is one of the greatest blessings in my life, so thank you for the friendship, encouragement, advice, and support. Super Sons #6 was one of my reads of the week. If you can find it on Youtube, search for a fan film from Blinky Productions called Rick and Morty Strike. July 30th was Sunday and it is time for Pickle Rick. McDonalds should get off its high horse and make a set of Rick and Morty collector glasses and happy meals, or at least bring back the Szechuan McNugget sauce. Now let’s make some comics on because you can’t teach that. Continue reading “Blind Adam’s Hidden Gems Vol. 58”

One Year Later: Spec Review for 7/27/16
What up CHU!?! Shawn B., the One Year Later Investigator, back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel and Poyo specced on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off the word on the street. Either way, all their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today.
Slow week spec wise. Most of the guy’s recommendations were for their PCs or just great art or reads. Continue reading “One Year Later: Spec Review for 7/27/16”
Poyo's Indie and Small Publisher Outlook – Summer 2017
We’re all here for one thing and that’s comics. We have the super hero comics from DC and Marvel that really got this industry going but independent books, I think, really allows writers and artists to flex their talent to bring forth new content to keep us entertained.
So I’m going to spotlight what I think are up and coming great books (because it’s been a while since the last time I did an Indie outlook post), hopefully are great reads, and along with great stories and great artwork by our favorite artists. Some may write and draw for the big two. Some may be new upcoming unknowns to us who are trying to make it big. Either way, Poyo loves independent and small publisher books. So I hope this spreads the word on some potential books we can all enjoy, either by reading, admiring the artwork or simply flipping so we can spend that hard earned profit on more books. San Diego Retailer Wrap Up – Dave from www.comicmysterybox.com
Hey CHUniverse, it’s Dave with ComicMysteryBox.com. I’m not here to promote my site, but Anthony asked me to give a sales report of some of the hot spec books I sold at SDCC last week (also known as C.C.I.). In addition to my CMB site, I make a living selling comics at most of the huge comic cons all over the USA since 1986. If you have gone to a huge con, you have probably seen me there and maybe even bought comics from me. Anyway, before I get into my list of some of the hot titles being snatched up at SDCC, just a few comments about the con itself. Despite all the negativity you hear about SDCC, Blind Adam summed it up best in his most recent CHU posting – ” I love the way SDCC is now and I never want it to change. SDCC is still about comic books and if you can’t find comic books at the current SDCC then you’re not trying. San Diego Comic Con is a wonderful kind of magic.” Continue reading “San Diego Retailer Wrap Up – Dave from www.comicmysterybox.com”
