Larry's Comics Pick of the week for delivery 11/5/14
Speculation: investment involving high risk but also the possibility of high
profits.
I have always believed that the icing on the cake of comics is the fact that sometimes they are worth money. They’re entertaining and potentially valuable. I’m a reader first, but have always played the market a bit.
I love investing in modern comics, It’s an endeavor I began in 1988 & enjoyed incredible success along with horrific losses. It’s an exciting emotional roller coaster that starts a new ride every Wednesday. It’s one of my favorite things in this world.
Here are my speculator-y picks of the week: Continue reading “Larry's Comics Pick of the week for delivery 11/5/14”

Jeremy Dale creator of Skyward passed away
Jeremy Dale, creator of the Action Labs Comic Skyward has passed away. This book is a fantastic read and had great spec on it when it first came out. I spoke to Jeremy numerous times at conventions (just this year he signed the Baltimore Comic Con Yearbook for me (it was a Grendel Themed book for which he provided a piece). Jeremy was a very nice guy and am sad to hear of his passing. Continue reading “Jeremy Dale creator of Skyward passed away”

SOLD OUT New #1 Comics for October 29 2014
Article by comic book historian Terry Hoknes of www.HoknesComics.com – hoknes@hotmail.com
This article is immensely useful in determining what retailers have under ordered and what is going to sell out fast.
This column is here to help promote every new comic book series debuting this week.
Pictured are the 3 new series that are selling out the fastest at Diamond !
This weekly article shows how popular the titles are and how close they are to selling out at Diamond.
This will give retailers and collectors a heads up with a reminder of books you want to make sure you get immediately!!
Sometimes books don’t sell out immediately so its worth taking a look back at series that came out in the past few months !
Comics can sell out very quickly so some titles on this list will be more valuable instantly the day of release !
Keep in mind that with 1500 comic stores if even just 20% of stores re-ordered just 1 copy each that would be 300 more copies sold instantly so a book can easily sell out within minutes if the book gets some buzz and/or good response from readers!
So many comics on the list that still have copies left are going to eventually all sell out.
Diamond data of copies still available listed below compiled the week BEFORE release date! Continue reading “SOLD OUT New #1 Comics for October 29 2014”
Gambit Movie in the works
Hope everyone had a good Halloween. I am finally rested from taking my kids trick-or-treating and dressing up as a spooky scarecrow and sitting in the graveyard scene in my front yard and scaring the older kids. But I digress, Marvel is back with more movie news. Deadline is reporting that Fox is set to start writing a Gambit movie. Continue reading “Gambit Movie in the works”
Ales Kot Zero Makes the Blood List
From the Wrap.
Genre guru Kailey Marsh has unveiled the 2014 Blood List, which names the 13 most liked, unproduced dark genre scripts of the year every Halloween, as voted on by Hollywood executives.
Number 2 on the Pilot list is Ales Kot’s Zero. We had mentioned previously that Ales Kot was talking about the book being shopped around for a TV show.
Zero from Image Comics can still be had very cheaply, under $2 in some cases. Besides the TV spec, it is a good read.
Ironically, the book that beat it out is called Monster which is described as “What if a killer like Michael Myers from “Halloween” had been shot, fell into a coma, and survived? He wakes up with no memory, is incarcerated in a mental institution, and twelve years later, is pronounced cured and released back into the community that hates and vilifies him.” Which sounds exactly like Bedlam.
Avengers VS. X-Men coming in 2015
Marvel keeps firing these images off of different event storylines with no information on what they are. I figured out the other day that these could be the “worlds” characters are going to be pulled from for the upcoming Secret War (and now bleeding cool is buying into that theory too). Here is Marvel’s latest teaser. Continue reading “Avengers VS. X-Men coming in 2015”
Kickstarter for Halloween: Zombie Highway
Quite a few years back, I want to say around 2006, I picked up a fun road trip/zombie book called Zombie Highway. It was about a group of thieves being chased by guys far worse then them and zombies. Flash forward years later, and I started to support a Kickstarter campaign for a book that I fell in love with the concept of, Suicide 5. I was very surprised to find out the book was written by Jason Pell, the same writer of the fun mini-series Zombie Highway. Continue reading “Kickstarter for Halloween: Zombie Highway”
Amazing Spider-man Renew Your Vows coming in 2015
Yes, another Marvel Mystery announcement. At one time, Peter Parker was married to Mary Jane Watson and they were having a child. The child mysteriously disappeared (Mary Jame believed she had undercarriaged) and the marriage to Mary Jane was ret-conned out of existence. Peter Parker has not been the same since. Infinity War Spec with some Guardians of the Galaxy Spec thrown in
Nicc T. writes for comicsheatingup.net. Infinity War has jumped up in price overnight. Copies are flying off eBay. Here is an additional book to look at in relation to Avengers Infinity War and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Since the Infinity Gauntlet was shown way back in Thor, and when we saw Thanos after the Avengers, I have been grabbing up copies of Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, and Infinity Crusade. We’ve seen rises of Infinity Gauntlet after people realized the gauntlet was shown. Even more now since Josh Brolin held it up at the comic con. Marvel announced that the third installment of The Avengers will be called Infinity War, which has sent the full sets doubling and then some. Previous sets would go for anywhere between $10-$15 some maybe topping at $24.99. That number now on eBay is rising above $60 and will surely go up.
So why are we leaving out a wonderfully awesome series such as Warlock and the Infinity Watch? The cover is fantastic, it ran for a respectable 42 issues and it is clearly stated on the cover as, “The Aftermath of The Infinity Gauntlet”. This comic is beyond cheap at the moment for 1-2 dollars and it’s a direct tie-in to the events that will be happening in the movies.
This is very undervalued. The set even more so. Get in while the getting is good.
On a side note, there was a seller who had listed 266 copies of Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1. One sold almost instantly. And then someone bought the other 265 copies after the announcement of the Infinity War movie.
Not only does this tie into Avengers Infinity War, the book also is tied potentially to Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The book focuses on Warlock, whose cocoon was shown in Guardians 1, so it may have been more than just an Easter egg. Warlock could appear in the second Guardians movie. He is closely tied to Thanos, and it would make sense that he and the Guardians could cross over into Infinity War. But more than just Warlock, Gamora and Drax, who were both main characters in Guardians also star in this book. It wouldn’t be a far stretch to see the characters from Guardians appearing in Avengers Infinity War.
Roman Ritual #1: A post pick of the week
I love horror comics. They are primarily what I collect. The more horrific the better. I picked up one this week that was incredible. Roman Ritual #1 from Amigo Comics by El Torres, Jamie Martinez, and Diego Galindo was just what I was looking for this Halloween season. Continue reading “Roman Ritual #1: A post pick of the week”
