Hopefully everyone survived their family this past Thanksgiving week. If you went shopping on Thursday, shame on you. If you went shopping on Friday morning, you’re brave and also stupid at the same time but hopefully you had enough turkey and food to last a few more days. The best thing about Thanksgiving is the leftovers.

Poyo's Picks of the Week for Thursday November 22, 2017
It’s turkey week here in America. For all of you not aware of American holidays, this Thursday is the day all us Americans sit down to celebrate something that never actually happened. But we like to think we’re really nice people who get along with the people we stole land from.

Poyo's Picks for November 1st, 2017
Halloween has arrived and so has new comic Wednesday. For me, this is really another uneventful week for new books. There might be a few surprise spec’s or winners but for the most part, even if there are, I don’t expect them to last long.
This week is so boring, I don’t really see a reason to even rush out to my shop when it opens like I usually do to score some cover price variants.

Poyo's Picks for October 25th, 2017
Halloween is upon us. The Walking Dead Season 8 starting back up with the All Out War story line has me started in comparing the books with the show. We also get blessed with some new Stranger Things episodes with Season 2 coming out on Netflix. The Simpsons Halloween special was awesome this past Sunday as well. This is just a great time a year for entertainment.

Poyo's Picks for October 11th, 2017
NYCC is now in the not so distant past. It was a blast hanging out with Anthony and Tyson from ToyBoxOne. I went for the comics but made more money flipping toys. Maybe I should start focusing on toys rather than comic books, eh?
Now that I’m all rested up (but swamped with daily life, work and now get to uber the kids around as the wife started work on a really cool show, so I’ll be seeing her maybe next July as the shows shooting supposedly runs through June of next year).. let’s get on with the picks this week. Poyo's Picks of the Week for November 30th, 2016
Welcome back to another new comic book week, where we all get our geek on with new books hitting the shelves at our local comic book shops.
This week is smaller than usual, seems there’s not as many new books hitting shelves, DC and Dynamite and IDW seem to have less than normal new books. There is a Paul Pope variant for M.A.S.K. #1 hitting stands, so be on the look out for that one. I know Anthony is gonna be searching for it more than likely.

Poyo's Picks for November 23, 2016
You know what’s better than spending time with the family and eating lots of turkey? New comic book day. Forget Thursday, this Wednesday is bound to be better with lots of new comics hitting the shelves. Yeah, you heard me, new comic book day is like Christmas every week. Where you get to go treat yourself with all the crap you don’t really need but you really need it or your life feels empty. So go buy those comic books, pick up a few extra, some titles you wouldn’t necessarily pick up. You deserve it. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks for November 23, 2016”
Poyo's Picks for November 16th, 2016
It’s that time again, the day we all wait for each week, new comic book Wednesday.
Is it me or does it seem like since Image claimed they were going to boost their #1 prints to avoid 2nd, 3rd and beyond printings.. we’ve seen more number ones go to 2nd and 3rd printings? Just doesn’t add up if you ask me.
You all will be so proud of me, I started attempting to catch up on my readings and I actually made a slight dent. I’m caught up with some Marvel reads and also Amazing Spider-Man so I could read Clone Conspiracy, which I can honestly say, art is great, story is meh. It’s not terrible but can we officially say Gwen Stacy has been revived? She’s suppose to stay dead dammit. Anyways.. I’ll hold my rants for characters that should stay dead for later, let’s get on with the picks, my picks, the stuff I’m gonna tell you to pick up to buy, read or flip, or whatever it is you do with your comic books..

Poyo's Picks of the Week for November 9th, 2016
It’s election night here in America, where Americans will pick their next leader, so we can start the election campaign cycle all over again almost immediately after it’s over. So instead of tuning into that political mud flinging arena, let’s talk comics, cause tomorrow is, new comic book Wednesday, something better to celebrate.
So let’s get on with the picks, my picks, sometimes dead on.. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for November 9th, 2016”
Poyo's Picks for November 2nd, 2016
Another Wednesday is upon us, like Christmas every week, even if it’s a smaller week, Wednesday is by far the best day.
This week brings more exciting books, so keep reading to find out what Poyo says you should be picking up to read, or flip. I am right sometimes too….

Poyo's Picks for October 26, 2016
Poyo Goals:
Met Jock. Check.
Met Francesco Francavilla. Check.
If you haven’t already, read my article on Mondo Con, it was a blast, especially the Art of Jock panel. I didn’t get a chance to go to all the panels but that was the primary one I wanted to see.
With that said, on with the picks of the week. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks for October 26, 2016”
Poyo's Picks of the Week for October 19, 2016
MondoCon is coming up here in Central Texas, if you’re going, holler in the comments section, I should be there either Saturday or Sunday. Jock and Francavilla are both going to be there, amongst some other comic creators and artists, movies, music, toys and food. So it’s more than just comics, I’m looking forward to the event and hopefully sharing stuff with the masses. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for October 19, 2016”
Poyo's Picks for October 12, 2016
So NYCC was a blast. It was nice meeting people and hanging with Anthony and Tyson from ToyBoxOne. Met Mel as well, but with the crowds and such, we all sort of went our own way at times. Shout out to Larry as well from Larry’s Comics, great pleasure to finally meet you in person.
A huge thanks to Anthony though for hooking us up with hotel reservations, con connections and that uber ride back to the airport on the way out of the city on Sunday, back to our regularly scheduled programmed lives.
Since I survived the weekend, let’s talk about comics some more shall we? It’s a huge week this week and there is just literally tons of good stuff hitting the shelves. So I’m going to change it up again. I’m going to stick with my DC and Marvel Picks, but then I’m going to make sure there’s always an Indie pick, which will hopefully be my main focus. Yes, out of the dozens of comics I pick up each week, I’m going to narrow it down to just one pick I think you should either read, keep or flip. Sometimes I might think it will be a quick flip. Sometimes it might just be something you hold onto for a long time. So let’s move on. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks for October 12, 2016”
Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept. 5th 2016
It’s Con Week for me and a few others. Yes, anyone going to NYCC, look for me, I’ll be hanging around that Tony guy.. and Tyson from ToyBoxOne!
It’s a huge week and I’ll be traveling on Wednesday so I’m hoping I ordered most of what I wanted or need, but I’m sure I missed something for the collection.
Regardless, let’s get on with the picks… Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept. 5th 2016”
Agent Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept. 28th, 2016
Welcome to Poyo’s picks of the week, where I give you my chicken wisdom in what I think you should be picking up or reading. Sometimes I’m even right and nail a spec, but that’s a rare occurrence.
Last week’s winner (Seven to Eternity) was kind of a no brainer, but it did end up heating up way faster than I anticipated. Maybe I can pick this weeks winner and get two weeks in a row, since getting one spec right is an accomplishment in itself. Continue reading “Agent Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept. 28th, 2016”
Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept 21, 2016

Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept 14, 2016
Another week, another new comic book Wednesday. I should just skip a few weeks, I’m so far behind in my readings it’s not even funny. I’m sad to say my favorite local shop is closing down, due to landlord issues. No new comics until the end of October when he’s being forced out and that’s just not enough time to find a new shop to operate out of. The owner is entertaining the idea of selling, so if anyone’s in the market of buying a comic book store, well, you’ll have to find a new location…
Enough with the sad news, let’s get on with the picks of the week. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for Sept 14, 2016”
Poyo's Picks of the week for September 7, 2016
I’m back. I survived Canada and it’s poutine! I also didn’t gorge myself with tons of ice cream cones, but it was tempting. I realized though, if one wasn’t smoking, they were likely holding an ice cream cone. Montreal was very clean, I really enjoyed it even though I spent 80% of my time in a datacenter. I even worked so much, I never got back to the hotel in time (why they close these at 10pm is beyond me) to enjoy the damn jacuzzi..
Last week Tony helped me out, with my picks and quite frankly, he did a pretty good job I think. I think the only comic he missed on my picks was Fourth Planet from Chapter House, which I really enjoyed the first issue and was really looking forward to the second issue.
So lets pick some comics for this week, cause Poyo is back and can’t wait to get back to the comic shop… and this week there is a lot coming out, probably one of the bigger weeks for me on new stuff and my ongoing pulls in a long time. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the week for September 7, 2016”
Poyo's Picks of the Week for August 31st, 2016

So let’s talk about them then. Continue reading “Poyo's Picks of the Week for August 31st, 2016”

Agent Poyo's Picks of the Week for August 17th, 2016
Welcome again to Agent Poyo’s Picks of the week. Sometimes I’m dead on but most of the time I’m wrong. But honestly I don’t care if I’m wrong because I’m good enough, smart enough and gosh darn it, people like me. Okay, that might be a stretch on the people liking me bit.
Anyways, let’s get on with my picks for this awesome week of new comics.

Agent Poyo's Picks for August 10th, 2016
Welcome again, to this weeks Poyo picks because you all have a problem, you like comics. That’s why you are reading this, well, I hope you are. If not, I wasted a good 5 minutes your time and a bit of my life each week submitting this to Tony to post on his website. So if you do read, post something.. your own picks, a comment to make fun of mine or me.. it doesn’t matter.
So anyways, let’s get on with these picks.. Continue reading “Agent Poyo's Picks for August 10th, 2016”
Agent Poyo's Picks for August 3rd, 2016
Another week, another new comic book Wednesday. I finally caught up on some of the Rebirth titles I’ve been picking up and I must say, surprisingly one of the ones I like most so far is Titans. Batman is okay, not anything great yet. Wonder Woman is just kind of bland.. I swear if I see the phrase “the story keeps changing” I’m going to rip up the comic and send it back to Rucka with some dung in the package. Justice League wasn’t bad either.. I might pick up a few more to see where it’s going. Hitch is a much better writer than Rucka though.
So enough of my ranting.. let’s get on with the picks.. Continue reading “Agent Poyo's Picks for August 3rd, 2016”

Agent Poyo’s Picks of the Week for July 20th, 2016
As I’m writing this, it is day 4 with the wife out of town and I have not eaten my kids yet being left totally in charge of the little monkey’s. We survived a day trip to the beach where we caught zero fish but I managed to burn my back due to crappy sunblock. As Wednesday approaches, I’m still ticked on my last Midtown order that came damaged, all 20 comics. Okay, one survived major damage where I’m keeping it but the rest are being sent back for replacements and a few were out of stock so I just get my money back. Surprisingly customer service put up zero hassle unlike Anthony’s luck with his Comic Con box.
So enough of my ramblings, let’s get on with the picks, the Poyo Picks, the only picks you should be reading.. forget about those guys Mel and Anthony with their picks, I know what I’m talking about.. at least 2% of the time, maybe…. at least I think.
