Speculation Corner: Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness

Our very own Mike_C  posted this over in the forums (which is in the Lounge that is reserved for higher level trust members, start hanging out in the forums more and you might get special access to behind the scenes talk a bit earlier, a perk of the forums) and I have to say, it’s a pretty good write up. Its just missing a few details.

Variants of the Week 12/18/2019

This weeks was a cover lover’s delight.  Heck even DC put on a strong showing.  There was three #1 issues that caught my eye.  5 indie titles.  Submissions by Inhyuk Lee; Artgerm; Clayton Crain, Jeff Lemire, Jenny Frison, and Catherine Nodet ensured that I’ll have to make hard decisions at the next trip to the LCS.  Oh and we are 4 issues into the Death Defying Devil, and still no answer on why he needs to have spikes so close to the crotch. Variants of the Week 12/11/2019

Art Wise this was an amazing week that was a welcome sight after last week’s lackluster showing.  7 of these were released indies and 6 were done by what I consider modern masters.  It was difficult to determine opening interest due to organic low estimates.  I did see a lot of good readers out there, but nothing that necessarily driving sales as of yet. VARIANT BOOKS Of the Week 12/04/2019

So pending any surprises from nowhere the field is set for the indies to make a showing if people give them a shot.  You’ll see some of my usual suspects on thus list: Inhyuk Lee, Deodato, Finch, amd Zaffino.  Even though they have already showed some signs of intial interest , I think I see some speculators maybe be holding back and waiting for the selection coming out on 12/11/2019. Variant Books of the Week 11/27/2019

There was a lot of books to read through and as always some of the Books were late. Nonetheless, even though I wasn’t too excited as far as long-term value on any of the books. There were some who depending on what you like will make for a good read, and some who’s opening High Opening interest are obviously a bit of stretch. Though I only have a few books listed here keep an eye on the indie books, I read a few that had a decent story and good interiors, but low opening interest so I didn’t list them here. The Masters of course make an appearance on this list One of them was a keep your money.

Variants of the Week: 11/13/2019

Whew! Some of these list are turning more into my own personal shopping list than anything else.   This was a so-so  week  and I see a lot titles being stretched with not a whole lot reasoning behind it , but regardless if you like to read, this was actually a pretty strong week from the big two. I took a look at 100 books, and 7 books had an impact on me:Despite my instincts one really showed high Open Interest, pre-sale.; 3 were #1’s; 3 of the covers were done by home run hitting artists,  and of course there is my normal, too entertaining to pass up. Tucson Comic Con 2019 Wrap Up

Tucson Comic Con took place over the weekend of Nov 1st through the 3rd.  Quickly becoming my favorite off-season con, it’s a great size con for this time of year. Enough attendance that it feels like a big show but not so hectic that you don’t get time to have some great conversations with guests and fans. Continue reading “Tucson Comic Con 2019 Wrap Up”

Variants of the Week: 10/23/2019

This week I chose 7 books, and every single one of them with low degrees of liquidity. Only one really showed high Open Interest, pre-sale. One is by a known home-run hitting cover artist. The next is a character story line driven, two are indies; the Craziest one? Well I just like the cover of the Count Crowley Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter #1. Variants of the week 10/02/2019

At first I was going to try and keep this short… and then I got a good look at some of the books, which left me with this week with a whopping  19 books, 1 of them had sold out and looks promising as far as near term liquidity, but the rest are dealers choices  . 4 are by known home-run hitting cover artist. 6 are character storyline driven 8 are indies; The rest are covers that I just want for the collection.
