I usually give my picks of the week late Tuesday or at the latest early Wednesday. I also like to give a heads up on what else is coming out during the week that may be worth a pick up. Because of being at Baltimore Comic Con this weekend, I am a day behind. So here is a look ahead at what is being released this week.
1. Walking Dead #114 As the book continues to grow and so does the show, more people keep grabbing up issues. Always a good bet.
2. Rachel Rising #19 Still a great book with fantastic story and art by Terry Moore. It was optioned and since they all have a low print run could still be worth the pick up (one of my monthly titles.)
3. The Other Dead #1 The comic has three covers, a regular, a subscription, and an Obama Variant which has already been bringing notice to the series. . This has caused heat just due to the cover image. The story is about zombie animals. May have been delayed a week, but don’t sleep on this one.
4. Ghosted #3 I seriously think this will get made into a movie. It has Kirkman’s star power behind it as it comes out from Skyward.
5. Collider, I mean, Federal Bureau of Physics #3 is still one of Vertigo’s best reads.
6. Brain Boy #1 Dark Horse continues to expand it’s heroes line with this remake of a classic Golden Age character.
7. Eternal Warrior #1 I was never a fan of the original Valiant stuff, but the new launches have been fantastic. This one looks cool from the preview I read.
Thank you to Matthew Swanson for the info.
I received an email this morning in reference to a request sent to CGC about grading ‘The Outliers #1’. There are two issues with the book that have to be accounted for. The first is, many of the books shipped from the publisher had a sticker over the bar code. this was done as some of the bar code printed had the black run together, which made them unreadable by a bar code scanner. The second issue is the dust cover the book was wrapped in. Here is the response from CGC.

Spoke to a couple of the East Coasts larger comic shops and they seemed to be saying the same things about the 3d covers. Continue reading “DC Villains Month end of day one”
There are a couple of books coming out this week that are sold out at the distributor level and worth a pick up. Selling out at the distributor level does not mean you cannot find them in stores, but they may sell out quickly, and once they do, the stores cannot reorder first prints.
Thanks to Dakoit at http://comicbookspeculation.blogspot.ca/ for the heads up on this one. Make sure you check out his blog.
Hello Everyone!
Hope all you had a wonderful restful long weekend! I just got back from my brother’s wedding, and had just a beautiful time with all my friends and family. That’s how long weekends should be spent. Happiest time of my life.
Well well, from the title, I’m actually now going on three weeks strong on the bat-verse of characters. This week, I just had to cover the first appearance of a particular female who’s been on every speculators radar of late. Many comic stores have sold out of her re-introduction in the DC NEW 52. Naturally, this would be a great time to discuss her first appearance. Batman Family #6 introduced the world to ‘Joker’s Daughter’: Continue reading “Speculator Pick: Batman Family #6, 1st JOKER’S DAUGHTER!”
Each week a couple hundred new books come out. Each week we pick the ones we think are going to heat up. Have a look at this week’s picks. Continue reading “Comic book picks of the week for delivery 9/4/13”

CHRONOS COMMANDOS #1 (Titan Comics, 2013) Small print run small publisher instant sell out of issues #1 and #2. Both issues have sold as high as $12.00 each on ebay – numerous high sales – unique comic ties dinosaurs and nazi’s into an action storyline. Sales print run so small that neither issue even charted on the monthly Diamond Top 300.

TRINITY OF SIN: PANDORA (DC, 2013) 1st printings of both issues #1 and #2 sold out immediately in the summer x-over tie-in with Justice League America. #1 print run at 35,106 ranked #67 for July 2013. However the Justice League #22 issue sold 110,000 copies so a definite shortage for those who wanted to read both. Trinity #2 had a print run of 32,170 which was almost the same showing how much orders had been increased as sales for #2 issues usually cuts in 1/2.
Trinity #1 1st printings have had numerous sales above $10 with $12.00 so far the highest price reached. Many sales of #2 at $5.00 each.

STEAM WARS (ANTARCTIC PRESS, 2013) #1 had a very small print run of only 2,399 copies and came out in April so it has 5 months to definitely sell out and heat up. 4 sales so far all at $14.99 each for #1 have helped dry up the entire market and now copies on ebay are priced at $25 to $30.00 each. #2 has an even smaller print run. #3 comes out next week! A steampunk version of Star Wars !! By Fred Perry (Gold Digger). A not so long ago, in a galaxy relatively close by began an epic struggle on a world seized in the grip of an evil Victorian empire, the Hegemonic Crux. Only a ragged alliance of rebels oppose the emperor and his black guard, but hope is fading. While fleeing from the steam-driven war machines of her imperial pursuers, Duchess Imoen stumbles across the home of the last Dragoon: the legendary storm foil warriors of ancient lore! This new (but strangely familiar) steam-fantasy epic will give thrills that haven’t been felt since 1977!

So the talk in the comment section has focused a lot on Kickstarter projects being the breeding ground for hot new comics. I ran a piece on one that was picked up by Top Cow / Minotaur (Publisher of ‘Think Tank’) that will be released this November called ‘Voice in the Dark.’ I got a chance to interview the amazing creator tonight and find out a lot more about this book. (Also big thanks to those who ordered his Kickstarter addition in the past 24 hours, you guys are the greatest!) Continue reading “‘Voice in the Dark’ interview with creator Larime Taylor”

Normally, the Diamond Comics advanced reorder list gives speculators a good idea on what is heating up based on what retailers are scrambling to reorder before final order cut off. This week it tells us only one thing, GET THE 3-D DC covers for yourself and for flipping if you can. All the books have been allocated to stores. You may not get the covers. These books have already started selling for multiple times cover price before they have been released. They are sold out. Standard covers are being sent to fill the demand, but not sure anyone will care about the standard covers.

Marvel was very proud to announce that Infinity #1 sold out at the distributor level. Selling out through Diamond Comics does not mean you will not be able to get this book in your local comic shop, but when there stock is gone, it’s gone.

One of the recent books I have been very intrigued by has been Shelter #1. Labeled as a Pre-apocalypse story, it follows survivalists preparing for the worst, and getting something completely unexpected. Continue reading “Sheltered #1 Print run”
With the second issue of the ongoing series Ghosted out today, and the second printing of number one, I figured it might be nice to know the print run. For a Skybound book it was less than I imagined especially since a preview ran in The Walking Dead. Continue reading “Print run of Ghosted #1”
