It’s been a few weeks since the last Throwback Thursday, which I apologize for. Been busy juggling work, school for kids, crap to do around the house and just quite frankly, trying to find any motivation at all is exhausting.
This week I’m heading back to April of 1972.. where Marvel kicked off a new title and the creators Roy Thomas and Gil Kane revamped a relatively unknown character into someone we, the comic book world, all know today…..
Due to the current state of affairs in the world, we’re staying in the past but since this is a throw back anyways, it’s a given that we’ll be stuck in the past with these.
So hopefully we here at CHU can keep you entertained while you’re stuck at home and if not, Anthony suggested throwing some Netflix Parties on the forums.
Got the time machine fixed but we decided to stay back in the past, in fact, we’re going back to 1965.
Last week we got thrown back in discovering Frank Millers first work on Daredevil, a character he ended up boosting the popularity of at Marvel and in the Marvel Universe with his awesome artwork and writing. So in the spirit of firsts for creators, we go back to 1987.
The time machine was fixed but it malfunctioned when we escaped out of the year 1966, hurling us 13 years into the future to 1979.
This week our time machine got stuck in 1966 another week so we revisit what else occurred around this time in the comic book world.
This weeks throwback is a little different. It’s not even about a particular character but it’s been very important in the Marvel Universe. It’s even played a huge role in the Marvel movies. Comic enthusiasts talk about it all the time and it’s something even my wife is familiar with if you mention it by name.
What the heck could I even talking about? Can you guess? And it’s been around since February of 1966?
